  1. Hi Amber. I like your backward design blog. I think a good big Question would be How have presidents contributed to improving and defending our way of life. Just a thought.

  2. It looks like you have a lot of Goals listed. Do you think it might be better to focus on one or two? Just because you may be touching on another goal, doesn't mean it is the focus of the lesson.

If you look at the Design Checklist from the Stage 1 Prompts PDF, it says

"Only those goals or content standards that are directly relevant to the unit and assessed in Stage 2 are listed."

I guess the question is, will you be assessing each of the 7 goals you listed?

  3. I'm wondering if the goals listed are being addressed in your desired understandings, key knowledge, key skills and essential questions. Although I like the idea of having a lesson driven by a topic, while they are learning the skill or content they need to learn, you will still want to be sure your desired understandings, key knowledge/skills and essential questions relate to the goals/objectives. They all help drive stages 2 and 3 where you are identifying what mastery of the goals/objectives looks like, how it will be done and what they will do to learn what is being offered in this unit.

  4. Your goals and desired skills don't match up. Your foals are mainly technology driven and your skills are writing and drawing, I am assuming by hand. Is a flip chart hand drawn?? I am going to check mine out again to see if mine matched up. I really like your questions because they seem as though the students would want to know the answers.
